Guide, assumptions & sources

What this toolkit does, what it does not do, and where to verify your tax result.

Tax year and scope

The main tax estimator is designed around Tax Year 2026–27 under the Income-tax Act, 2025, as amended by the Finance Act, 2026. The new-regime normal slab structure for eligible individuals/HUF-style cases is 0% up to ₹4 lakh, 5% from ₹4–8 lakh, 10% from ₹8–12 lakh, 15% from ₹12–16 lakh, 20% from ₹16–20 lakh, 25% from ₹20–24 lakh, and 30% above ₹24 lakh.

The old-regime estimator uses common individual slabs and age-based basic exemption thresholds. The actual tax outcome can depend on residential status, special-rate income, rebate eligibility, deductions, surcharge, marginal relief, rounding, and other provisions.

Finding the right tax calculator

People search for a tax calculator India, an income tax calculator online, or an income tax calculator old vs new tool to compare their likely tax liability. This toolkit offers both a new-regime and old-regime estimate for the financial year shown on each calculator page.

A search for income tax calculator Excel may mean you want a spreadsheet you can edit. This website currently offers browser-based calculations and a Print / Save PDF feature, not Excel file export. When comparing it with ClearTax or another service, check the financial year, included tax provisions and assumptions rather than relying on the name alone.

For a 20 lakh income tax calculator scenario, enter your own income details in the calculator. Income alone does not determine final tax: deductions, income classification, rebate eligibility and other applicable provisions can affect the estimate.
